An escape ladder that hides in plain sight. Folded up, it looks like a slim drainpipe on the facade. In an emergency it unfolds on its own, and a lock at the bottom keeps intruders from climbing up while every floor above can still get down.
A fire ladder has one job: work perfectly after years of doing nothing. This one has no springs or cables to seize up. The counterweights sit sealed inside the rails, so you step on and it lowers you gently to the ground. Every time, even after decades outside.
Stairs where the bottom flight lifts out of reach when nobody needs it. That keeps the ground floor secure outside working hours, and there are no gas springs to lose pressure over the years. Pull it down and you have a full staircase, certified to the European access standard.
Walkways and platforms for factory roofs and plant rooms, cut to fit the site and bolted together on the spot, no welding. A third of the weight of steel, and the aluminium doesn't mind salt air, oil or fumes. Thirty years on, still no repainting.
